Rand Paul & Jack Bauer: Striking fear in President's Hearts

Afraid, Mr. President?

By Jesse Phillips

If you’re a 24 fan, you have to admit that Monday’s episode was one of the best. Jack Bauer kidnapped former President Logan. As Jack approached the vehicle with his ominous black mask, several shots of Charles Logan’s fear stricken face were priceless.

As easy as it would be to poke fun at Logan, I understand his fear. Jack Bauer was coming after him. The thought of Jack Bauer coming after me would be enough to make me cry like a baby, too.

What’s even more delightful than seeing the looks of horror on Logan’s face is the thought of the terror President Obama must be feeling now about the Tea Party, and conservativism in general. Everywhere you look, liberals are losing, Democrats are losing, and now with the nomination of Rand Paul, establishment Republicans are losing. Was that just me, or did I just see the President’s knees shake?

Here’s how bad it’s got: Democrats are starting to argue that losing is good for them, and could actually help them solidify their power. I might be a bit naive, but according my pre-school logic class I just finished, that argument doesn’t make sense. Actually, I take that back. Liberalism’s love of failure and penalizing success actually makes this argument perfectly consistent with their ideology. In a country in which we incessantly tax the motivated and successful people to enable the laziness of bums who are either to entitled to work or cheats that are “too big to fail”, this argument that Democrats losing helps them is not at all unexpected.

So, counting New Jersey and Virginia’s Governor races, the Massachusetts Senate race, Obama’s failed endorsement of Arlen Specter, the Tea Party’s victories in Kentucky, Utah and the Maine GOP platform, it’s safe to say that this movement is here to stay. And did I mention Arizona’s immigration reform or the dozens of states that have either sued the government or passed ballot initiatives to nullify Obamacare?  The mainstream media, and the Obama administration are going to deny that they’re concerned. Of course denial of danger is the first and most conclusive sign of fear and trepidation.

If a picture could ever describe the mood of our President’s heart, it would be the picture above. The Tea Party has ransacked his agenda and is obliterating his co-liberals at the ballot box at every chance. There is no safety anymore. The first few shots have been fired in an all out assault to peacefully take back America by Constitutional means. What the President is coming to realize is that his disregard for our Constitution will only work until We the People recall him from service. This is still a country of free men and women, and though he may disregard the Constitution and damage our republic, we are a constitutional republic nonetheless and in November 2010, and then November 2012, you will see a historic vindication of the wisdom of the founders’ prevention of the rise of tyrants. The republic they instituted will prove once again to be stronger than the leaders who would otherwise have risen to unjust power.

You can run, Mr. President, but you can’t hide from the Supreme Law of our land, the will of the people who truly rule this nation. Like Jack Bauer, the Constitution will find you, and it takes no prisoners.
