Army’s historic first trans officer indicted trying to pass medical info to Russia

The US Army’s first openly transgender officer was indicted for trying to pass medical information to the Russians, a major blow to the movement to remake the military in the image of the “woke left” under the Biden administration.

A federal grand jury in Baltimore indicted Jamie Lee Henry, a doctor at Fort Bragg along with his wife, Anna Gabrielian who allegedly attempted to transfer the highly sensitive data to a Russian diplomat who was actually an undercover FBI agent. The federal indictment was delivered Wednesday and unsealed Thursday.

The couple met several times with the agent who was offered the medical information on members of the military and their families from Fort Bragg where Henry had top-secret security clearances, reported the Baltimore Banner.

Gabrielian, an anesthesiologist at John Hopkins University was motivated by her love of Russia – a nation that is virtually at war with NATO – with her husband “using her clearance as a staff internist to help secure the files,” according to the indictment, the outlet reported

“My point of view is until the United States actually declares war against Russia, I’m able to help as much as I want,” Henry allegedly told the undercover agent in August when they met to set up the deal, according to the Baltimore Banner. “At that point, I’ll have some ethical issues I’ll have to work through.”

“You’ll work through those ethical issues,” Gabrielian allegedly replied, She also reportedly added that Henry was a “coward” because of fears of breaking the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

According to the indictment, the two are alleged to have been “offering sensitive medical information on military members and their families,” the outlet reported.

“During an Aug. 31 meeting at a hotel in Gaithersburg, Gabrielian provided the agent with medical information related to the spouse of a person currently employed by the Office of Naval Intelligence and medical information related to someone only described as a veteran of the Air Force,” the Banner reported.

“During the same meeting, Henry also provided medical information related to five patients at Fort Bragg, including a retired Army officer, a current Department of Defense employee, and spouses of active and deceased Army veterans,” the outlet added.

Hailed by the left as a pioneer of the transgender movement, Henry was interviewed by BuzzFeed in 2015.

“It’s not just a trans issue, right? It’s a human issue. Can we recognize someone as an individual? Can we recognize the good in them? Can we recognize that they just want to do their job and do it well? Can we give them the circumstances, the environment, the tools to be able to do their job and do it well without the shame and the guilt and the fear and the pain that comes along with being different? Can we do that? Can we do that in a place like America?” Henry asked. “I believe we can.”

The couple has been charged with conspiracy and wrongful disclosure of individually identifiable health information and, if convicted on both charges, face up to 15 years in federal priso.

Twitter reacted to the indictments of the history-making Army officer’s willingness to barter information on American soldiers to the Kremlin.

In its official policy on transgender military service, the Army states: “The all-volunteer Army thrives when it is comprised of diverse Soldiers who can meet the high standards for military service in an inclusive military force that strengthens the national security posture.”
