Tucker exposes swampy Frank Luntz and Kevin McCarthy relationship: ‘We didn’t know the half of it’

Fox News host Tucker Carlson dug even further into the relationship between liberal pollster Frank Luntz and GOP House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy who are not only friends, they could also be “roommates.”

McCarthy is allegedly renting a room in Washington, D.C. from the so-called Republican pollster in one of the priciest neighborhoods in the city, staying at Luntz’s Penn Quarter condo. The Fox News host was stunned by the revelation.

“Turns out, we didn’t know the half of it,” he said on Monday’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight

Carlson previously accused Luntz of lobbying for liberal causes and Big Business. The Fox News host has been on a tear asking why such a liberal fixture in politics has so much sway over the Republican Party. The answer is apparently Kevin McCarthy.

Carlson opened up his segment with the news: “Over the weekend, we got a call from a source who said that, in fact, Frank Luntz and Kevin McCarthy are not simply friends, they’re roommates. Kevin McCarthy lives in Frank Luntz’s apartment in downtown Washington. That’s what we were told, and honestly, we did not believe it. The top Republican in the House lives with a Google lobbyist? Come on. Even by the sleazy and corrupt standards of politics in Washington, that did not seem possible. In fact, it sounded like a joke.”

“This morning, since we heard it we called to check with Kevin McCarthy’s spokeswoman, and when we raised this she all but chuckled at the suggestion, ‘No when he’s in Washington,’ she told us, ‘Kevin McCarthy rents hotel rooms, or sleeps in his office in the Capitol. He certainly isn’t living with Frank Luntz.’ Okay, and that seemed logical to us, but we did press a little bit because we got the tip from someone reliable and we just wanted to be sure. So the spokeswoman said she would get back to us,” Carlson explained.

“Two hours later, we got this text. Quote: ‘Following up on our conversation from earlier today. Because of the pandemic, McCarthy has rented a room in Washington at a fair market price from Frank,'” Carlson continued..

In January, Luntz declared that he felt he could no longer call himself a Republican. Carlson calls him “effectively a Democrat.” Last week, Carlson pointed out that Republicans are disconnected from their base primarily because they listen to “conventional liberals” like Luntz.

Many members of Congress rent or buy property in the D.C. area. They avoid staying with friends because it could raise ethical issues and, in the case of McCarthy, that’s exactly what is happening here. His office is claiming that McCarthy is paying a “fair market price” for the room at Luntz’s residence, but there has so far been no proof of that.

Carlson noted that the reported cost to live in Luntz’s apartment building would be approximately $5,000 per month. If it turns out he isn’t paying for the condo, that could become an ethics violation that he would have to allegedly answer for since Congress members are forbidden to accept gifts, especially from lobbyists, Carlson explained.

The Fox News host reiterated that, as a registered lobbyist, Luntz “lobbies on behalf of the world’s most left-wing companies,” and cited Google, Nike, and Delta Airlines as examples of his clientele.

He ended the segment by absolutely shredding McCarthy for the appearance of impropriety.

“But no matter what he is paying…the price of the apartment is not the crime here. Kevin McCarthy’s real crime is mocking his voters. Kevin McCarthy promises Republicans he shares their values. He tells them he’s on their side. He says that he will fight for them against permanent Washington, the forces that would like to destroy their lives. Voters believe Kevin McCarthy when he says this. They send him back to office every two years. They send him money. And at the end of the day, Kevin McCarthy goes home to Frank Luntz’s apartment in Penn Quarter and he laughs about it.”

Luntz and McCarthy were trashed on social media over the development:
