Rush loves idea of sanctuary cities being saddled with immigrants, as Trump doubles down: ‘I’m jealous I didn’t come up with it’

Talk radio host Rush Limbaugh loves the idea of releasing illegal immigrants detained on the southern border into Democratic-controlled sanctuary cities across America, as President Donald Trump is considering doing.

“What a great idea!” Rush said on Friday’s show.

If you think about it, it’s a lot like putting your money where your mouth is. If the Democratic Party insists on advocating for illegal immigrants over the interests of U.S. citizens — and they do — then let them be responsible for the chaos they have largely contributed to.

And when 100,000 illegal immigrants descending on the southern border in March, many of them women and children from Central America, it is indeed chaos.

With Border Patrol overwhelmed and detention centers full, the federal government is being forced to release illegal immigrants into the country.

After the Washington Post reported on the idea of sanctuary cities being considered as drop points, President Trump took to social media to confirm that his administration is considering it.

The president tweeted: “Due to the fact that Democrats are unwilling to change our very dangerous immigration laws, we are indeed, as reported, giving strong considerations to placing Illegal Immigrants in Sanctuary Cities only….”

As he so often does, Limbaugh nailed it when he called the proposal “so perfectly Trumpian.”

“What a great idea! They say they love them, they say they want them, they’ve got their borders open, so send them there,” he said. “What a great idea! The Washington Post claims it was planned as a way to retaliate against Trump’s political adversaries. Even better! Even better. This is exactly the kind of stuff we’re up against each and every — what a great idea.”

“It is so perfectly Trumpian,” Limbaugh continued. “The plan was to send some of them to Pelosi’s San Francisco district. I mean, you…it’s the kind of idea I’m jealous I didn’t come up with it, the kind of policy suggestion that I regret I didn’t think of.”

Limbaugh would go on to say the plan “was just a suggestion, that was floated and it was quickly dismissed,” which the White House confirmed in a statement.

Ripping the story as an example of the anti-Trump media running with “bombshell” stories and dramatic headlines, he said that the administration was “just bandying things about.”

President Trump, perhaps getting a sense of how wee-wee’d up the media was getting over the idea, doubled down on the possibility Friday while speaking at the White House, saying illegal immigrants are coming every day by the thousands and are being coached on how to apply for asylum because of antiquated immigration laws.

A law that only allows illegal immigrants to be held for 20 days.

“We are giving very strong consideration to having people, after a 20 day period – because legally we’re not allowed to hold them for more than that – we will move them to sanctuary cities,” the president said.

“California certainly is always saying, ‘Oh we want more people,’ and they want more people in their sanctuary cities. Well, we’ll give them more people. We can give them a lot. We can give them an unlimited supply — and let’s see if they’re so happy. They say they have open arms — they’re always saying they have open arms, let see if they have open arms,” he added.

Naturally, Democrats and the open-border left are up in arms over the idea, as seen in Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s reaction.

“I don’t know anything about it, but again, it’s just another notion that is unworthy of the presidency of the United States,” Pelosi told reporters Friday. “And disrespectful to challenges that we face as a country, as a people, to address who we are, a nation of immigrants.”

Fox News’ Geraldo Rivera is not too keen on the idea either.

“Let me stop by agreeing that I think that a lot of what the President is saying is born of frustration because of the lack of cooperation by the Democrats on the border,” he said Friday on “The Five.”

“They are doing nothing to help other than making things more difficult. But this is a stunt. This is also illegal. I’m telling you. It’s illegal. Ask Emily. You cannot use people as props to make a political point.”

Co-host Greg Gutfeld interjected to accurately say, “That’s what they have been doing for 40 years. Democrats and Republicans.”

“The road from the border to wherever the illegal immigrants are being taken will be lined with lawsuits. I guarantee you,” Rivera countered.

By the same lawyers who are coaching illegal immigrants on how to manipulate our outdated immigration laws.
