Viewer backlash: Rachel Maddow is big loser in Mueller aftermath, but she’s not alone

After special counsel Robert Mueller exonerated President Donald Trump of Russian collusion, ratings for longtime Russian collusion delusion conspiracy theorist Rachel Maddow collapsed.

“Maddow’s audience has dipped on her two days back on the air since Attorney General William Barr reported that special counsel Robert Mueller had found no collusion between Trump and Russia’s efforts,” the Associated Press reported Wednesday. “Her audience of 2.5 million on Monday was 19 percent below her average this year, and it went down further to 2.3 million on Tuesday.”

Between Monday, March 18, and Monday, March 25, three days after the conclusion of Mueller’s investigation, the MSNBC conspiracy theorist reportedly lost 500,000 total viewers. Meanwhile, longtime Russia collusion delusion critic Sean Hannity’s Fox News’ program, “Hannity,” doubled Maddow’s Monday ratings, attracting more than four million viewers total versus her 2.5 million.

Overall, Hannity and his fellow hosts at Fox attracted more viewers throughout all of Monday than their conspiracy theory-peddling peers at MSNBC and CNN combined:

Speaking Wednesday evening about Maddow’s sad fate, Hannity argued that she deserves every bit of it for “[m]aking a fortune at the expense of her viewers” and “[f]illing their minds with pure fiction and creating a sense of any second now, we got him, we caught him.”

“Well now that the Mueller witch hunt is officially over and the truth has been laid bare for all to see, her nightly fake Trump Russia collusion theories may have made her a nationwide laughing stock.”

Her naive, low-information viewers should have seen this coming, he added.

“After all, Trump-Russia collusion is hardly a first venture into the land of tinfoil hat conspiracy theories,” he said, before playing a montage of Maddow touting outrageous conspiracy theories.

In one conspiracy theory spouted two years ago, the MSNBC host accused  Trump of launching an air strike against Syria to distract from bad political news.

Listen:

Hannity concluded his segment by asserting that she, her peers at MSNBC and her peers at CNN “should never be trusted again” given their shameless conspiracy theorizing.

While he didn’t mention it, they also shouldn’t be trusted because some of them, including Maddow, have chosen to double down on their unhinged conspiracy theories.

“Rachel Maddow, the left’s powerhouse on cable, won’t let the Mueller probe go,” The Washington Post reported Tuesday, adding that her new focus is on obstruction of justice.

Maddow is among the far-leftists who’ve latched onto the conspiracy theory that Attorney General Bill Barr isn’t telling the full truth about Mueller’s findings, which were that Trump never colluded with Russian operatives and that there isn’t enough evidence to claim obstruction of justice.

Following the conclusion of the special counsel’s investigation last Friday, the AG released a report Sunday announcing that he and Deputy Attorney General had, after reviewing the evidence for three weeks, concluded for themselves that the president didn’t, in fact, obstruct justice.

Far-left conspiracy theorists are now questioning this conclusion.

“Whatever information [Barr] just received from Robert Mueller about the president’s behavior as it pertains to potential criminal obstruction of justice, Barr could have just passed that information on to [Congress] for them to decide what to do with it,” Maddow said Monday.

“But instead, somewhat inexplicably, he decided to take it upon himself to declare definitively, ‘Yeah, you know, I looked at all that stuff, and I can tell you there is no crime there, it’s fine.'”

“Where did this come from?” she reportedly added. “I mean, on what grounds are you saying that you have concluded there is no crime here?”

On the same grounds that then-FBI Director James Comey chose three years ago to not recommend charges against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton? Except that Barr and Rosenstein are higher up the DOJ’s chain of command, meaning their decisions carry more legitimacy.

Yet interestingly, Maddow never complained or spun conspiracy theories about Comey’s widely panned decision to left Clinton off the hook for crimes that were more clear-cut than a crop circle.

This suggests that the MSNBC host isn’t as much of a conspiracy theorist as she is a partisan hack who’s willing to do and say anything to destroy her political enemies and, as Hannity noted Wednesday, earn “a fortune at the expense of her viewers.”

As of Thursday morning, Maddow’s Wednesday ratings still remained unclear. But now that she’s been exposed as a partisan hack, she shouldn’t be surprised if her ratings fall even further.

Sucks to be you, Rachel Maddow.
