The clock appears to be running out on Broward County Elections Supervisor Brenda Snipes. Finally.
That’s according to Politico’s Marc Caputo, who reported on Monday that sources are saying Snipes is losing support in her own party and may be felled by one of the two men she has impacted with her actions.
More from Politico:
Counting unlawful votes. Destroying ballots. Sunshine Law violations. Busted deadlines.
So many controversies have bedeviled Broward County Elections Supervisor Brenda Snipes — culminating in her office’s troubles in the aftermath of Florida’s chaotic 2018 elections — that her days in office are now numbered, insiders and lawmakers say.
She’s losing support from fellow Democrats and faces the increasing likelihood of an embarrassing suspension from office at the hands of either Gov. Rick Scott or his likely successor, Ron DeSantis
In addition to two court rulings last week that Snipes had violated election laws, a court also ruled in May that she violated state and federal laws when she destroyed ballots from a 2016 Congressional race that were the subject of a lawsuit.
Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., was fully supportive of Snipes being removed from office.
“This is not just the most troubled elections office in the state, it’s the most troubled elections office in the nation,” Rubio said, according to Politico.
“She has shown she’s incapable of conducting a large and important election in a way that inspires public confidence and trust,” he added. “She’s been found to have destroyed ballots, in violation of the law. Opened absentee ballots early, in violation of the law. Misprinted ballots that have gone out.”
Gov. Scott hinted that some action against Snipes may be forthcoming during an interview on “Fox News Sunday,” when asked by host Chris Wallace why he did not suspend her previously or name a replacement.
“What I focus on now is we’ve gone through an election,” Scott told Wallace. “Let’s get this election finished. That’s what I’m focused on now.”
“Let’s get this election finished, let’s make sure she complies with the law,” he added. “Let’s make sure the Florida Department of Law Enforcement does an investigation.”
Meanwhile, provisional ballot boxes are STILL turning up in the county.
Richard DeNapoli, the former chairman of the Broward County Republican Party, posted a video on Twitter Sunday explaining that he has been contacted by an Avis Car Rental employee about a box marked “Provisional Ballots” being found in the trunk of a rental car.
.@RichardDeNapoli yesterday, discovered supplies and a Broward County provisional ballot box at Avis at Ft. Lauderdale airport.
FDLE eventually showed up to secure the scene.

According to DeNapoli, the employee said he first called the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, but they were not interested in the report. After being contacted, DeNapoli said he called the FDLE, who then called the sheriff’s office.
The person who rented the vehicle was identified as Noah Holliman.
The Avis employee advised as to “Noah Holliman” being the renter of the vehicle and that he lived locally
