Jim Jordan levels MSNBC host when segment gets hot: ‘I want to keep you focused on the facts’

It must be embarrassing to get schooled on your own show.

Katy Tur traded barbs with Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) on Monday over the issue of the Mueller probe, with the conservative firebrand telling the MSNBC host “I want to keep you focused on the facts.”

Tur questioned Jordan, co-founder of the House Freedom Caucus, about the president’s criticism of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian electoral interference.

“If the president feels so confidently that he’s innocent and feels so confidently it will end well in his favor, and if he really wants the Mueller investigation to go on unimpeded, why is he tweeting what he’s tweeting,” Tur pressed.

“Why did he tweet what he tweeted over the weekend? Why is his lawyer coming out–and saying this investigation needs to end? Why is he, why is he saying as much as he’s saying?”

President Trump has denied that his campaign colluded with the Kremlin during the 2016 election, and called the investigation a “witch hunt.”

Jordan fired back with accusations of FISA abuse against the Trump campaign by the FBI, as detailed in a House Intelligence Committee memo released to the public last month.

“Think about what the FBI did,” Jordan said. “The top people, the people I just talked about, many of them have been fired, a bunch of them have been demoted, they took a campaign opposition research document, dressed it all up, made it sound like it was legitimate intelligence, took it to a FISA court to get a warrant to spy on a fellow American citizen, when they went to the court, they didn’t tell them the whole truth, the didn’t tell them who paid for the document—”

“Hold on, that’s what Devin Nunes–that’s a Republican partisan finding,” Tur interjected.

The MSNBC’s characterization of the memo as a “partisan finding” echoed the assertions of a rebuttal memo compiled by Democrats on the Intelligence Committee.

The counter memo’s Democratic authorship would arguably make it as much a “partisan finding” as the original memo.

After further debate, Tur said she wanted to keep the congressman “focused” on President Trump and Mueller.

“I want to keep you focused on this, and respectfully—”

“I want to keep you focused on the facts,” Jordan replied.

The back-and-forth came amid speculation that the president intends to dismiss Special Counsel Mueller. The White House has denied the rumors.
