Fox News is launching a subscription streaming service for “superfans” that will not require a cable television package, according to a report Monday.
The online subscription service, “Fox Nation,” will feature hours of daily streaming with new anchors and new shows. Fox News stars such as Sean Hannity are also supposed to appear on the subscription streaming service which is said to be announced Tuesday, The New York Times reported.
The service will reportedly be ready by the end of 2018 and will appeal to those who watch Fox News every day and night for hours at a time.
“Fox Nation is designed to appeal to the Fox superfan,” John Finley, who oversees program development and production for Fox News, said in an interview with The New York Times. “These are the folks who watch Fox News every night for hours at a time, the dedicated audience that really wants more of what we have to offer.”
Fox News viewers “value our product so much, they go to hotels and if they can’t have Fox, they send us emails. They go on cruises, and if they can’t have Fox, they send us emails,” Finley said. “This is a way for us to meet that demand.”
At the end of January Fox News became the most-watched cable news channel for 16 consecutive years.
