Gowdy when asked point blank if Clinton henchman is behind Steele dossier: You’re ‘really warm’

House Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy was asked about a key source of information behind Christopher Steele’s anti-Trump dossier, which the FBI used to convince a FISA court to issue a warrant to spy on the Trump campaign.

Screengrab Sidney Blumenthal, Hillary Clinton

The outgoing South Carolina Republican all but fingered long-time Clinton henchman Sidney Blumenthal.

In an appearance on Fox New’s “The Story,” the South Carolina Republican said he was “pretty troubled” by the Obama State Department’s role in all of this.

Gowdy was speaking of information included in a criminal referral by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., which  referred to “a foreign source [who] gave information to an unnamed associate of Hillary and Bill Clinton, who then gave information to an unnamed official in the Obama State Department, who then gave the information to Steele.”

“There is a state component — State Department component to this,” Gowdy said Tuesday. “It needs to be investigated. I don’t view the investigation turns terms of stages. It is one investigation pursuit of all relevant facts leading towards the truth.”

“I am troubled by what I read in the documents with respect to the role the State Department played in the fall of 2016, including information that was used in a court proceeding,” he added.

“So weeks before the election, somebody in the Obama State Department was feeding information from a foreign source to Christopher Steele?” host Martha MacCallum asked.

“When you hear who the source or one of the sources of that information is,” the Republican lawmaker replied, “you’re going to think, oh, my gosh, I’ve heard that name somewhere before. Where could he possibly have been?”

When asked if he was referring to a foreign source, Gowdy clarified that he was talking about a domestic source.

“I’m trying to think of how Secretary Clinton defined him,” he said. “I think she said he was an old friend who emailed her from time to time.”

“Blumenthal?” asked MacCallum.

“That’d be really warm,” he answered. “You’re warm, yeah.”

Like, how warm, Gowdy? Lukewarm? Smoking hot?

In any event, Grassley is seeking more information on Blumenthal, as well as Clinton associate Cody Shearer, in order to get to the bottom of it.
