The father of three of the victims of former sports doctor Larry Nassar attempted to attack his daughters’ abuser during a courtroom hearing in Michigan Friday morning, CBS News reports. He was tackled to the ground by bailiffs and escorted out.

Randall Margraves requested the judge give him five minutes “in a locked room” with Nassar.

“I would ask you, as part of the sentencing, to grant me five minutes in a locked room with this demon.”

The judge said she could not, prompting Margraves to ask “Would you give me one minute?”

After the judge responded “You know I can’t do that–that’s not how our legal system works,” the father rushed the courtroom podium.

Before he could get to Nassar, Margraves was detained by bailiffs, who brought him to the floor. Crying was heard as the father was escorted out of the Eaton County Circuit Court in Charlotte.

State Attorney General Angela Povilaitis told the families of the victims to “use your words,” rather than violence.

“This is letting him have this power over us,” she said. “We cannot behave like this. I understand this is a remarkable situation. But you cannot do this. This is not helping your children. This is not helping your community. This is not helping us.”

Two of Margraves’ daughters addressed the court, accusing Nassar of abusing them and a third sister. Their testimonies were two of 30 victim statements given so far.

The incident took place at the third and final hearing for Nassar’s extensive sexual abuse charges. The doctor stands accused of abusing over 150 women and girls, taking advantage of his position as a highly-respected physician with USA Gymnastics and Michigan State University.

Last week, Nassar was sentenced to between 40 and 175 years in prison–after having already received a 60-year sentence.

“I’ve just signed your death warrant,” Judge Rosemarie Aquilina said in last week’s hearing.

Nassar has yet to be sentenced for his final hearing.

The disgraced doctor is likely to never again see light outside a state facility.
