James Comey is back with a cryptic message for America ahead of the FISA memo’s release

Former FBI director James Comey is making sure not to miss out on FISA memo mania, a phenomenon that has taken over America (or at least the dusty corridors of our nation’s capitol).

The release of 4-pages drafted by House Intelligence Chair Devin Nunes is becoming tantamount to the Oscars, the Grammys, and the State of the Union all rolled into one. The White House has drummed up more hype for the FISA memo’s release than the Super Bowl. There may be more watching parties for the FISA memo’s release than for the big game itself. Or so it seems.

Will it be a bombshell? Will it be a dud? Nobody seems to know for sure, but ahead of its anticipated release on Friday, both the liberal and conservative poles of the media spectrum are engaged in a narrative death match rivaling that of a honey badger and a king cobra.

James Comey just couldn’t help himself. After taking countless potshots for his perceived politicization of the Hillary Clinton email case, and a recent development reported by CNN that he drafted it with partisan FBI agent Pete Strzok, he had to weigh in on #memogate – albeit in highly cryptic language.

“All should appreciate the FBI speaking up,” Comey tweeted. “I wish more of our leaders would. But take heart: American history shows that, in the long run, weasels and liars never hold the field, so long as good people stand up. Not a lot of schools or streets named for Joe McCarthy.”

It’s interesting that Comey turned to McCarthy, a favorite liberal bogeyman for pointing out that there were communists in the U.S. government (this was proven via the Venona Project). Although no one is a fan of “witch hunt” tactics, there has perhaps been no greater one in modern U.S. history than the one prosecuted by the media based on the highly speculative narrative that Donald Trump and the “Russians” conspired to somehow rig the election to defeat Hillary Clinton.

Weasels and liars may not hold up well in history, so long as good people stand up. But if U.S. intelligence assets were abused to dig up dirt on a political enemy of the Democratic Party, which garners well above 90% support in agencies throughout the government, then the American people deserve to know that.

Once the memo is released, we’ll find out who the “weasels and liars” really are. The majority of the American people respect law enforcement and intelligence officials, but they also know ‘men are no angels‘ or else government wouldn’t be necessary.
