Conservative radio shock jock Don Imus, host of “Imus in the Morning,” is calling it quits after an historic 47-year run. His last show is slated for March 29.
The show’s Twitter account tweeted out a message confirming the news Monday morning.
March 29th, 2018, will be the last 'Imus in the Morning Program.' Turn out the lights…the party's over.

Imus, 77, first began broadcasting in 1971 in New York City and quickly rose to fame due to his blunt delivery and fearless topic choice. He was inducted into both the National Association of Broadcasters and radio halls of fame. He also received four Marconi awards for excellence in broadcasting and was named one of the top 25 most influential Americans in a 1997 issue of Time Magazine.
Imus made regular television appearances on NBC’s “Today,” CBS’ “60 Minutes,” “Charlie Rose,” “The Late Show with David Letterman,” CNN’s “Larry King Live,” and Fox News’ “Hannity.”
Imus was fired from WFAN Radio in 2007 for using what the network called a “racial slur,” after he referred to members of the Rutgers women’s basketball team as “nappy-headed hoes.” Imus apologized and called the remarks “completely inappropriate.” He was later hired by WABC radio and has been with them ever since.
Imus continues to run a ranch for children with cancer with is wife Deirdre, which has raised millions of dollars for the Tomorrows Children Fund, the CJ Foundation for SIDS, America’s veterans and their care, autism studies and environmental concerns, according to Imus.com
