Marie Harf had the nerve to go on national television and claim Trump’s success against ISIS for ex-president Obama

At the close of 2017, ISIS has reportedly lost 98 percent of its territory, has seen most of its so-called “caliphate” captured and is down to less than 1,000 fighters and it is all thanks to … Obama?

Despite the stunning numbers revealing the terrorist group’s losses during President Donald Trump’s first year in office and U.S. generals singing their new Commander-in-Chief’s praises, liberals refuse to give credit where it is due.

Former Obama State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf, now a Fox News political commentator, actually declared that it was former President Obama’s administration that laid the groundwork for the staggering defeat of ISIS and the liberation of the citizens of Iraq and Syria.

“The strategy that has led to a virtual defeat of ISIS in the caliphate…is largely a strategy that was laid out during the Obama administration by military commanders,” Harf said Wednesday on Fox News Channel’s “The Five.”

“President Trump has loosened the rules of engagement. He has allowed the military to use more bombs for example and so I think that has helped,” she conceded.

U.S. military officials revealed the figures on Tuesday, noting that 60 percent of the total number of freed civilians were liberated just in 2017, since Trump took office. In addition, the terrorist group’s fighters numbered over 30,000 under Obama’s watch but the isolated members now account for a number around 1,000.

But why let facts and figures ruin the left’s narrative?

“The rules of engagement under the Obama administration were onerous. I mean what are we doing having individual target determination being conducted in the White House, which in some cases adds weeks and weeks,”  retired Air Force Lt. Gen. David Deptula, the former head of U.S. Air Force intelligence, told Fox News.  “The limitations that were put on actually resulted in greater civilian casualties.”

And if critics are wrong about the years of “onerous” rules as the Obama administration “micromanaged” the war, according to Fox News, then perhaps Harf was on to something in 2015 when she suggested the terrorists join ISIS because of a “lack of opportunity for jobs.”

The Twitter mockery was as epic for her current praise for Obama as it was when she delivered the line that inspired the #JobsForISIS hashtag.
