MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski played apologist once again for her friend and former colleague Mark Halperin Friday, and said his accusers should hear him out and grant him a face-to-face meeting.
“Mark Halperin is more than willing to meet with his accusers and apologize with them face-to-face. I’ve actually tried to offer him to them. They don’t want to talk to him,” she said on “Morning Joe.” “There are some hypocrisies here. When things happen and men actually want to validate that truth, that’s important that we actually allow that if we want to grow as a society and learn from each other. If we just want to strike people down for political motivation or for anger, we are not going to get anywhere.”

Brzezinski immediately acknowledged she had said something controversial, but continued to make the case for Halperin and other men who’ve come forward who want to apologize for their inappropriate behavior.
“I know I just said something incredibly, what’s the word, explosive. But I have been pouring though these case. They’re all different. They all involve people. They all involve people that have had terrible experience in some cases, and some of them involve men who have sought counseling and who want to apologize,” she said. “The question is should they be allowed to apologize. Should they show that they know that things have changed, that perhaps maybe they want to actually come forward and talk about this.”
Paul Farhi of The Washington Post tweeted a statement sent from Halperin’s accusers to MSNBC Friday evening, in which they called Brzezinski’s comments “inappropriate” and said she lacked “compassion” and “editorial judgement.”
