Sean Hannity began his Thursday night show with a searing monologue hammering not only the illegal immigrant who got away with killing Kate Steinle, but the dangerous “sanctuary city” law that allowed the tragedy to happen.
After Jose Ines Garcia Zarate, an illegal immigrant who had been deported five times before, was found not guilty of the most serious charges even after admitting to firing the gun that killed Steinle while she was walking with her father on a pier in July 2015, Hannity spoke directly to the root of the issue – the fact that Zarate should have never been in a position to find and even accidentally fire the gun.
“It was San Francisco’s sanctuary city policies that killed Kate Steinle,” said Hannity. “They did not obey the law. They followed these ridiculous liberal policies, and because of their stupidity and their ‘form of justice’ and caring more about the rights of illegal, convicted felons, tonight Kate Steinle is dead and her family has received no justice.”
After showing a clip of Zarate’s attorney “taking a shot at the president,” Hannity went through the details of the Steinle case, particularly the fact that the government had requested that Zarate be “handed over to federal authorities” three months before the shooting, and yet San Francisco refused.
“What good comes out of a sanctuary city law?” Hannity asked. “People who never respected our laws and our sovereignty come into this country again and again and again and again and again, six times after being deported, after all those felonies, and an American young woman is killed with her father walking on a pier in San Francisco?”
