Monday evening marked the long-anticipated debut of Laura Ingraham’s brand-new Fox News show, “The Ingraham Angle.” But on her earlier radio show, the conservative host warmed up her listeners with a hefty dose of reality for anyone who thinks Monday’s indictments of Paul Manafort and Rick Gates somehow represented a “bad day for [President] Trump.”
After stating that she and her staff had looked through the entire indictment, Ingraham said, “And the idea that this is a bad day for Trump because it in any way alludes to a collusion with Russia — you’ve got to be living on another planet if you think that. It’s just not what this is about.”
The Fox News host believes it could be an attempt “to twist Manafort to try and get him to give something on Trump,” but the fact that they are indicting Manafort and not the president or his closest advisers likely means “they don’t have anything on Trump.”
“If they had anything on Trump that would be the indictment today,” Ingraham said.
“I mean, we don’t know anything more than we see in these 31 pages, but as far as a smoking gun that in any way casts aspersions on Donald Trump, it’s a nothingburger,” the Fox News host said. “And I hate that word, nothingburger.”
“It’s not good for Trump, but it’s a nothing. You know what is something? The fact that Donald Trump and the Republicans are about to accomplish something big vis-Ã -vis tax reform.”
