Sen. Bob Corker of Tennessee likened the White House under President Donald Trump to an “adult day care center” Sunday, a likely retort to the president’s early morning tweet storm attacking the senator.
“It’s a shame the White House has become an adult day care center. Someone obviously missed their shift this morning,” Corker tweeted Sunday.

Corker is likely referring to White House chief of staff John Kelly when he said “someone obviously missed their shift this morning.”
Kelly notably shook up the inner workings of the West Wing when he replaced Reince Priebus in the summer. Kelly fired former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci just 10 days after the Wall Street banker took the job. He also terminated two National Security Council.
In addition to staff shake ups, Kelly stopped the open door policy to the Oval Office that the president had established and that Priebus was seemingly unable to stop.
The president came out swinging against the Tennessee senator Sunday morning. Trump claimed that Corker “begged” him for his endorsement in the 2018 election cycle, and called the senator a man with “no guts.”

The Tennessee senator revealed in late September that he will vacate his seat at the end of his second term in the Senate in 2018.
“After much thought, consideration and family discussion over the past year, Elizabeth and I have decided that I will leave the United States Senate when my term expires at the end of 2018,” the two-term lawmaker said in a statement.
“When I ran for the Senate in 2006, I told people that I couldn’t imagine serving for more than two terms. Understandably, as we have gained influence, that decision has become more difficult. But I have always been drawn to the citizen legislator model, and while I realize it is not for everyone, I believe with the kind of service I provide, it is the right one for me,” Corker said.
