Justice Gorsuch accused of campaigning for Mitch McConnell for laughable reasons

It seems Democrats are STILL sore over the appointment of Neil Gorsuch to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Jessica Mason Pieklo, a journalist for Rewire News, took to social media Saturday to accuse Justice Gorsuch of campaigning for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

“Neil Gorsuch is campaigning for Mitch McConnell which is totally appropriate for a member of SCOTUS,” Pieklo tweeted.

Never mind that Gorsuch wasn’t exactly “campaigning,” but why let pesky facts stand in the way of a good political narrative.

Gorsuch did give a speech in McConnell’s hometown, Louisville, Kentucky, and was introduced by the majority leader, according to Law Newz. The pair also held an event that same night at the University of Kentucky, which is McConnell’s alma matter.

A passage from the Associated Press article Pieklo linked to may shine a little light on the driving force behind her angst:

Thursday’s appearance amounted to a home turf victory lap for McConnell, who helped prevent Democratic President Barack Obama from filling the seat last year with Judge Merrick Garland. The Kentucky senator blocked Garland’s nomination for nearly a year, refusing to even allow a confirmation hearing, so the next president could make the nomination after the election.

In what may be the mother of all ironies, Pieko developed a sudden distaste for bias.

“How could there POSSIBLY be an appearance of bias when Gorsuch is glad-handing with Kentucky Republicans,” she tweeted.

It’s not clear exactly where the liberal ideologue stood when House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi was seen rubbing elbows with the three liberal female justices on the Supreme Court:

Pieklo, an adjunct law professor at Hamline University School of Law in Boulder, Colorado, reinforced her left-wing bona fides by questioning whether Gorsuch, after just 5 months on the bench, is the most unethical Supreme Court justice yet?

…which is the best sign yet that liberals understand how big a defeat it was seeing Gorsuch seated on the high court.
