When CNN’s Brooke Baldwin had Fox Sports Radio analyst Clay Travis on her show Friday to discuss whether or not ESPN should fire anchor Jemele Hill for calling President Trump a “white supremacist,” the last thing she expected to hear was a staunch defense of the “First Amendment and boobs.”
“I’m a first amendment absolutist and believe in two things completely — the First Amendment and boobs,” Travis said, apparently in defense of Hill.
But it was hard to get around the whole “boobs” part.

When Baldwin asked Travis to clarify whether he meant “boobs” or “booze,” Travis said, “You don’t love boobs, too?”
The other panelist, former ESPN editor Keith Reed interjected: “I’m not talking about that on television because it’s irrelevant to the topic. It shouldn’t be brought up here.”
“Why not?” asked Travis.
“I’m a supporter of women in their careers. I’m a supporter and a stark supporter of women like Brooke who have shared the airwaves before,” said Reed.
By then, Baldwin was ready to shut it down.
“I’m done. I’m sorry. I’m done,” the CNN anchor said. “This conversation is over.”
Later, the CNN host penned an op-ed about the experience for CNN.com.
“This is not okay. Speaking to women like this is unacceptable. It is 2017. Why is this even happening?” Baldwin wrote.
The newsroom around me fell silent. I was staring into the camera trying to make sense of what was unfolding on live television. I even caught my cameraman Jay’s eyes in disbelief. I thought again: “It is 2017, and this grown man is on my show talking with me — a female host — about boobs. Is this seriously happening?”
And then I did something I’ve done only a handful of times in my career. I told the control room to kill his mic and said “bye.” I invite a variety people on my show with wide-ranging opinions — sometimes even my jaw hits the floor, too — but I let them speak. Whether it’s left, right or center — I want to expose my viewers to other perspectives. Agree with them or not, the nation needs to listen.
But this … was different.
Wow. The kicker on @BrookeBCNN's piece about Clay Travis' appearance on her show. https://t.co/lj45jSdT4h pic.twitter.com/lRk36hCV9L

For his part, Travis tweeted that he had a pending interview for Monday.
CNN is so offended that they already called me and asked if I could come back on Monday. Too perfect.
— Clay Travis (@ClayTravis) September 15, 2017
Since then, however, things have changed…
shocking, I know.
So @CNN just texted to cancel my Monday interview they falsely claimed wasn't booked. Fake news gonna fake news. pic.twitter.com/qzpyke8ufT

But…
I have so many speaking engagement offers rolling in right now from across the country that I think I could retire now.

Hard to argue that Travis wasn’t in the wrong by saying what he did, but Britt McHenry put things in perspective…
Feminists wore vagina hats during protests. Celebs posted nude IG photos in name of feminism & ppl are offended @claytravis said "boobs"?!❄️

And no, liking boobs doesn’t make you a white supremacist!
That stunt that Clay Travis pulled on CNN is a tactic commonly used by white extremists .They will troll in order to get their numbers up

Liking boobs makes you a white supremacist, guys. https://t.co/CU1qrqXUC4

Plenty of Twitter users had some fun with the whole exchange.
Confirmed: The Boob Man himself, @ClayTravis, will be live in studio soon… pic.twitter.com/XrvKazK481
