Hillary Clinton‘s State Department pressured security contractors to remain silent about the shocking security lapses they uncovered at the U.S. embassy in Benghazi, Libya, in 2012.
Two weeks after Brad Owens and Jerry Torres alerted the State Department about their concerns, the embassy was attacked by Muslim terrorists, who brutally murdered four Americans.
The men are still haunted by the senseless, preventable deaths of Ambassador Chris Stevens, foreign service officer Sean Smith, and former Navy Seals Ty Woods and Glenn Doherty on September 11, 2012.
Torres— a former Green Beret — and Owens — a former Army intelligence officer — are disgusted that the officials who ignored the security lapses at Benghazi still have their cushy government jobs.
“Those who made the poor choices … were more responsible for the Benghazi attacks than anyone else. They’re still in the same positions, making security choices for our embassies overseas now,” Owens told Fox News (see video).
Torres chimed in: “A U.S. ambassador is dead and nobody is held accountable for it. And three guys … all died trying to defend him. [It was] bad decision-making from top to bottom.”
Jerry Torres, CEO of Torres Advanced Enterprise Solutions, said he was afraid to speak out earlier because he was worried doing so would jeopardize his security company, which employs 8,000 people.
There was nothing Torres could have done anyway, since the Clinton State Department hired a smaller, foreign contractor, the Blue Mountain Group, to provide security at Benghazi in 2012. Amazingly, State Department contracting officer Jan Visintainer insisted that security guards not be armed at U.S. embassies.
Now that President Donald Trump is in office, Torres hopes the Department of State can correct security lapses so other innocent Americans don’t get killed. “Now that there’s … a change of administrations …. we have an opportunity here to fix the problems,” Torres said.
The testimony of Brad Owens and Jerry Torres confirms what most Americans suspected all along: That former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton could have prevented the Benghazi attack but refused to.
Not only did Hillary lie when she blamed the Benghazi attack on an anti-Islam video, but she ignored 600 email requests from Ambassador Chris Stevens begging for more security in the months before he was murdered.
Five years have passed since the Benghazi attack, but Jerry Torres still grieves for the four families that lost their loves ones. Looking back, he wishes he could have been there to defend them. “[I’m sorry] for not bringing this up earlier. For not actually being there, on the ground and taking care of these guys,” he lamented.
