Sens dubbed ‘Obamacare Republicans’ take MAJOR heat as conservative bigwigs SLAM inaction

The term “Obamacare Republicans” is trending on social media, and it has people asking what they’re going to botch up next.

Both Internet journalist Matt Drudge and Fox News host Sean Hannity have declared war on those GOP senators who repeatedly voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act, but are now hesitant to pull the plug on the ailing program.

Voting to repeal the act during the previous administration was no act of courage, when lawmakers were comfortable in the knowledge that then-President Obama would immediately veto any such measure.

Now that President Trump is in the Oval Office with pen in hand ready to sign Obamacare’s demise, those same legislators are having second thoughts, believing that their political future may hang in the balance.

Their Congressional seats may be the thing that’ll get repealed and replaced.

When a Senate “repeal and replace” measure stalled, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced Tuesday that he would push for a straight repeal of the Affordable Care Act, minus any replacement.

Four GOP senators said they wouldn’t approve such a measure: Sens. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, Susan Collins of Maine and Rob Portman of Ohio.

Murkowski, Portman and Moore Capito all voted for a straight Obamacare repeal in 2015. But that was then; this is now.

“If it is a bill that simply repeals, I believe that will add to more uncertainty,” Portman said, according to The Daily Wire.

Tuesday night Drudge ran a photo of Obama, smiling and “living easy” in the knowledge that his legacy was still safe.

Also that evening Hannity made the “Obamacare Republicans” the subject of his opening monologue, telling the lawmakers to get into a room, turn off the air conditioner and don’t leave until they hammer out an agreement.

“If you can’t get this done, then new leaders need to be elected who can do your job,” he said. “You people in Congress — you’re pampered, you’re overpaid, you’re spoiled.”

Later on the same program, conservative commentator Tomi Lahren also let the Obamacare Republicans have it.

“The Honeymoon is over,” she told them.

Social media lit up in agreement.

Thomas Paine had a term for people like Murkowski, Portman and Moore Capito. He referred to them as the “summer soldier and the sunshine patriot.”

May as well add Collins to that category as well. Although she didn’t vote with the other three to repeal Obamacare in 2015, she also said she couldn’t vote for its replacement when it was offered.
