Polish politician smokes rude pushy BBC host over Poland having the backbone to say no to refugees

Although a member of the Polish Parliament was constantly interrupted by his BBC interviewer, he was nonetheless able to school his rude host on the dangers of unbridled Muslim immigration.

Dominik Tarczynski, an MP and a member of Poland’s governing Law and Justice Party, appeared on BBC to defend his country’s sovereign right to deny immigration from Islamic countries despite growing criticism from the European Union.

The interviewer started out by asking why Poland won’t accept such immigrants from other European Union-member states despite a prior agreement to do so.

“Well, basically because people who voted for us, they said no,” Tarczynski answered. “The previous government had this agreement and now Polish people said no, we don’t want to have this threat in Poland… and we have to respect them.”

The BBC host wasn’t buying it.

“Except, if you look at it from the other side, this agreement was made by Poland not by internal Polish politics,” she said. “You can see you can see how that is being seen from outside. People will say, well look, we don’t care about bickering inside Polish politics. The country has agreed to take its fair share of asylum seekers and that’s not happening.”

Tarczynski corrected her appraisal.

“It’s not about internal politics,” he said, “it’s about the situation in Poland, in Europe, in the world. How many terror attacks you had in London?” Good question.

“We had a campaign. We listened. We asked people: ‘What are your expectations?’ [The answer] was very clear: ‘We don’t want this threat,’” Tarczynski continued. “Politicians are supposed to listen to the people, and this is what we do.”

The MP observed that it all came down to terminology — and the BBC host’s use of the term “asylum seekers.”

“I’m a lawyer, they are not refugees they are immigrants. There is a legal difference between refugee and immigrant. Refugee is the person who flees to the first safe country, not flying throughout the globe looking for the social and better life, so we are not talking about refugees.”
