Trump signs plan to protect our cops; Monday night gesture kicks off new era of honor and respect

Away with the colors of the rainbow, there’s a new sheriff in town!

President Donald Trump announced Monday that he’ll light have the White House awash in blue Monday evening to honor police officers on Peace Officer Memorial Day.

The action stands in stark contrast to former President Barack Obama lighting up the Executive Mansion in the colors of the rainbow to celebrate the Supreme Court ruling on same sex marriage.

Additional actions outlined in a proclamation signed by Trump include declaring the upcoming week “Police Week” and the request to fly the American flag at half-mast to honor officers who’ve fallen in the line of duty, The Hill reported.

“Police officers are the thin blue line whose sacrifices protect and serve us every day, and we pledge to support them as they risk their lives to safeguard ours,” Trump said in the proclamation.

The White House was lit in blue in April in recognition of World Autism Awareness Day.
