Tucker tells Dem rep to stop talking ‘crap’ on Comey firing: Why say it if you don’t know it’s true?

Tucker Carslon lambasted a Democratic congressman and his colleagues for being “totally irresponsible” in their reactions to President Trump’s firing of FBI Director James Comey.

The Fox News host, joined by Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney on Wednesday’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” addressed claims by Democratic lawmakers linking Comey’s termination with the investigation of alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Carlson blasted Democrats having a meltdown over Trump firing Comey, seeming to reverse previous calls for his head. He also took issue with many, like Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, claiming that Trump’s fear of the Russian investigation led him to his decision to fire the embattled director.

“Why are you saying crap like that you don’t know if it’s true?” Tucker asked. “That’s totally irresponsible. Like, why would you say something like that?”

The New York congressman refuted Carlson’s claim that he and other Democrats are “parroting” Warren’s allegations. While not a fan of Comey’s, Maloney argued that he did find it of concern that Trump would fire the man leading an investigation of his campaign and those associated with it.

“That is unprecedented in American history,” Maloney said. “No president has ever fired an FBI director for that reason. So you know what? That’s probably a headline.”

Carlson fired back that it is not known if Trump fired Comey “for that reason.”

“I would remind that you’re an elected official with the responsibility to say things you can prove and that are true,” he said. “And you’re violating that responsibility because you don’t know why he got fired.”

Maloney countered that there should be concern because Comey was “fired abruptly, without warning,” adding that it was “extremely disrespectful” to FBI personnel to “knock out” their leader without a proper transition plan in place.

“I remain in the dark as to all the details, as do you,” Carlson told Maloney. “I don’t pretend to understand the motives of people with whom I haven’t spoken.”
