Canadian Comedian Samantha Bee, who was a very outspoken Hillary Clinton supporter during the 2016 presidential election, is lecturing Americans again on what to think.
Bee appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Jake Tapper on Sunday where she argued that she did not believe there was a “smug liberal problem” in this country.
The host of the show “Full Frontal” spoke to Tapper just one day after she hosted her own White House Correspondents’ dinner, where she spent the entire night insulting president Trump and complimenting the mainstream media.
Tapper began the interview asking Bee whether or not comedy can be an effective tool used against the Trump administration.
“We need catharsis, a place to analyze things in a different way. We see things through a different filter. We just need to break it down,” she said.
The highlight of the interview came when Tapper brought up a column from New York Times writer Ross Douthat, who labeled Bee as the “embodiment of ascendant social liberalism” and described her as a “big problem,” for the Democratic party going forward.
“So flattering!” Bee said, smugly dismissing the article as just “one person’s opinion.”
“I’m not talking about you, but is there a smug liberal problem?” Tapper asked politely.
“I just can’t take responsibility for the way the election turned out,” Bee charged back defensively.
Tapper brought up that Bee called for Hillary Clinton to skip campaigning in Wisconsin altogether, which suggested Bee assumed Clinton would win and that the people of that state weren’t worth the visit from someone running for president.
“Is there a smug liberal problem?” Bee fired back at Tapper. “I’m, I guess, you know, I don’t, I don’t think there is.”
“I do the show for me and people like me and I don’t really care how the rest of the world sees it, quite frankly,” she continued. “We make a show for ourselves. We put it out to the world. We birth it and the world receives it how they want to receive it.”
