President Donald Trump wowed NRA members today by promising from the podium that Obama’s “8-year assault on your 2nd Amendment freedoms has come to an end!”
Trump has become only the second U.S. President to address the annual meeting of the National Rifle Association (NRA) since Ronald Reagan appeared only weeks after he was shot by John Hinkley, Jr., in 1981. And Trump wowed those in attendance nearly as much as The Gipper did.
As his 100th day in office approaches Trump appeared at the NRA convention to reaffirm his support of the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, Fox Insider reported.
“You came through for me,” Trump said speaking of the NRA’s strong support for his campaign last year. “And I am going to come through for you.”
“The eight-year assault on your Second Amendment freedoms has come to a crashing end,” Trump said as the crowd cheered. “You have a true friend and champion in the White House.”
“To the NRA, I can proudly say: I will never, ever let you down,” the president added.
