Conservative women in the 21st century don’t lie back and take the abuse.
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin reminded CNN’s Jake Tapper what everyone seems to have forgotten — strong, modern women don’t put up with any abuse — sexual or otherwise — from men.
During her appearance on “The Lead” Thursday, Tapper repeatedly asked Palin if she was either the victim of or witnessed any form of sexual harassment while she was a Fox News Channel contributor.
The subject came up as a result of the cable news outlet’s ouster of former host Bill O’Reilly.
Palin said the “corporate culture” at Fox “obviously has to change.” But, she went on to add what women should do if there is an atmosphere of intimidation.
She said that although women shouldn’t have to accept working in an “intimidating workspace,” they also owe themselves and society a duty to fight back.
“At the same time, if a woman believes that she is being intimidated and harassed, she needs to stand up and do something about it, not stick around for a paycheck for years and years and years and then after the fact complain about what she went through,” she said.
“We should feel more empowered than that.”
In other words, don’t be a victim if you can help it.
Tapper continued to press.
“Did you ever witness or experience, God forbid, anything like that at Fox?”
Palin responded that she would never tolerate any abuse directed ay her.
When the CNN host asked if such behavior was among the reasons she left the cable news outlet, Palin suggested that he ask Fox News why she’s no longer with them.
But Tapper still wouldn’t let it go.
“I don’t want to be a jerk, but it sounds like you experienced something,” he remarked.
Palin replied that she had left because it was “time to part ways.”
Attorney Lisa Bloom who is representing O’Reilly’s accusers, fired off a politically charged feminist battle cry in a form of a “statement” about the case.
