Young woman faces felony charge after vicious encounter with 67-year-old over minor fender bender

A minor fender bender in a California parking lot turned needlessly violent as a 25-year-old woman viciously attacked a 67-year-old woman.

The attack happened in a thrift store parking lot in Stockton, California, when Vanessa Ortiz, 25, got into a tussle with the elderly woman over a minor parking incident. Words were exchanged and tempers flared, but Ortiz took it that much farther by grabbing the old woman, punching her in the face, slamming her to the ground, and breaking her arm, The Daily Mail reports.

The elderly woman is 67 years old but is not being identified publicly.

Shocking video of the incident was caught by another person in the parking lot who witnessed the attack.

Particularly cringeworthy is the segment in the video where you can clearly see that the older woman’s arm had been snapped in half and is seen bending in the wrong direction as she tries to sit up.

Ortiz was arrested and charged with felony battery. And it was later learned she had an outstanding warrant against her for a previous prostitution charge.

For her part, Ortiz spoke to the media and insisted that the fight was “an accident.”

Speaking from behind the glass at the Joaquin County Jail, Ortiz told KTLX, “And my apologies to her and her family, whatever.”

But Ortiz insisted that the old lady started it.

“She’s not your average old lady, she’s like a spicy old lady,” the suspect said. “As you can see I have scratches on my face, she snatched my glasses off.”

Indeed, one of the witnesses did note that the old woman was heard berating the younger woman and “getting in her face.”

That, though, doesn’t excuse a physical attack and Ortiz also began crying while claiming she was trying to straighten out her life and get past her life as a prostitute.

Police note that Ortiz is not eligible for bail since she had an outstanding warrant. She will appear in court next week.
