What is it about HGTV reality stars that stirs up so much animosity among viewers? Jealousy?
The latest brouhaha involved “Flip or Flop” star and interior designer Christina El Moussa over some photos she posted to her Instagram account Friday. On that basis, some of her critics accused her of being a bad mother.

She posted a photo of her and her daughter Taylor, 6, and son Brayden, 18 months, enjoying the afternoon by the pool with another young mother with her own children.
“Our first slumber party!!” she wrote. “6 kids, a dog and 2 moms. So fun, crazy, but so fun.”

Her post received over 19 thousand likes — but not everyone thought it was likable.
“No one is a hater, but as a mother it is scary to have a toddler being that close to a pool!” an Instagram user with the handle luvmyhub3 wrote.
“OMG 1. It’s a beach entry if he fell in it’s only a foot high, he would be ok 2. It’s not his first time in or around the pool,but thanks for your ‘concern’ aka judgment,” El Moussa fired back. “3. AND most importantly I am right there and could be to him in 3 seconds SMH at this …..!!!!”
Another user came to her defense with this suggestion.
“@christinaelmoussa maybe you could put Brayden in a bubble until he’s 20,” the Instagram user wrote. “Oh wait, no that won’t work. Then the haters would say you’re too over protective.”
The 33 year-old was criticized the day before for having the audacity of outfitting her daughter with a bikini that matched her own.
Fox 411 reported that at least one user thought that was totally unsuitable.
Here are two additional photos taken from that shoot.
“That is completely inappropriate! I am done with your show you are not making good mother choices,” the user wrote.
However, the majority of her followers thought there was nothing wrong with their swimwear.
El Moussa isn’t the first HGTV reality star flipper to come under fire.
BuzzFeed News scorched Texas “Fixer-Upper” couple Chip and Joanna Gaines for attending a Christian fundamentalist church.
“Fixer-Upper” is still a popular HGTV staple, but two that didn’t fare as well were brothers David and Jason Benham, whose show, “Flip it Forward,” got yanked by the network before it even aired. Like the Gaines, they were blasted for their Christian beliefs.
