Spicer zaps press with Hillary zinger: More evidence CNN colluded with Clinton than Trump with Russia

It’s time for the mainstream media to face some harsh reality — but can they handle the truth?

When a reporter at Thursday’s White House daily briefing asked about allegations that President Donald Trump‘s campaign colluded with Russia, he was told that stronger evidence existed of Democratic campaign collusion.

Hillary Clinton’s campaign colluded with the media.

“CNN reported yesterday that U.S. officials are investigating that associates of President Trump communicated with suspected Russian operatives to coordinate the release of information damaging to Hillary Clinton’s campaign,” the reporter said.

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer observed first of all that CNN hedged in its reporting.

“The last line of [CNN’s report] said, ‘The FBI cannot yet prove that collusion took place,'” Spicer shot back, before adding his zinger.

“I think there’s probably more evidence that CNN colluded with the Clinton campaign to give her debate questions than the Trump campaign [did] any kind of collusion,” he continued.

“That reporting is filled with a bunch of subjective terms about, ‘This person may have done this, possibly could have done that,’ and at the end of the story if you wade to the very bottom it says, ‘The FBI cannot yet prove that collusion took place.'”

As an aside, if you ever wondered where Spicer gets his fighting spirit when dealing with a less-than-friendly press pool, a job that White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said she’d sooner slit her wrists than take, here’s the answer. It turns out that in addition to being the administration’s chief spokesman, Spicer served 17 years as a U.S. Navy officer, and holds the rank of full commander, or O5, in the Navy reserves.

In other words, don’t mess with him.
