Tomi Lahren suspended from The Blaze; Glenn Beck says it’s not because she’s pro-choice

“The Blaze cannot be about me, me, me, me,” founder Glenn Beck said while discussing Tomi Lahren’s suspension.

Conservative commentator Tomi Lahren has been suspended from The Blaze days after flip-flopping her stance on abortion.

Sources told the Daily Caller the suspension will be for “at least one week.” Insiders said it’s likely that Lahren’s contract — which expires in September — won’t be renewed and Tomi could be ousted from the Blaze earlier than that.

The brouhaha erupted after Lahren announced on “The View” last week that she is pro-abortion, even though she had called abortion “murder” and “baby killing” just three months ago.

“I’m pro-choice and here’s why,” Lahren told “The View’s” liberal co-hosts. “I’m a constitutional, ya know. I can’t sit here and be a hypocrite and say I’m for limited government, but I think the government should decide what women do with their bodies.”

On his radio show, The Blaze founder Glenn Beck dismissed speculation that Lahren was suspended because she’s pro-choice:

We have a whole bunch of different kinds of people that work here. We started The Blaze with a show called the Real News, and it was hosted by Amy Holmes, who was openly pro-choice. So if you’re pro-choice, you can have a job at The Blaze. I don’t hire people who are sycophants or don’t have my opinion.

Beck also said it’s not hypocritical to be a pro-life conservative. Beck then insinuated that Lahren, 24, had flip-flopped because she lacks intellectual depth:

I would disagree that you’re a hypocrite if you want limited government and yet you want the government to protect life of the unborn. But it takes intellectual honesty, and it takes a willingness to actually think these things through and to do more than just read Twitter or Facebook to get your news and your political opinions. You actually have to study things.

Lahren’s pro-choice comments drew immediate backlash from her co-workers at The Blaze and from conservatives. However, she also received a lot of support from liberals and pro-choice conservatives.

Meanwhile, insiders told Red State that Lahren was a nightmare to work with: “Stories of her yelling at the makeup team, screaming at an employee for not ‘heating up her butt warmer’ before air, and a general ‘disdain’ towards her staff have surfaced in the wake of Lahren’s recent announcement on ‘The View’ that she is pro-abortion.”

Beck appeared to confirm rumors that Lahren was difficult. “The Blaze cannot be about me, me, me, me,” Beck said. “Media should not be about me, me, me, me.”
