Rapper Wyclef Jean furious when handcuffed for matching suspect’s description; fans scream…racism!

Charges of racism quickly spread after Grammy winner Wyclef Jean was detained momentarily by Los Angeles police on Tuesday during a search for an armed robbery suspect.

The 47-year-old rapper shared a video to his Twitter account that showed him in handcuffs as he complained about the detention.

“Ya’ll see the police have handcuffs on me,” he said.

“They just took off my Haitian bandana,” he complained after stating he was coming from the studio with a rapper named T-Baby. “That’s what’s going on with Wyclef in L.A. right now.”

He then went on a tweetstorm claiming that he has “law enforcers” in his family but that he was “appalled” by the LAPD’s behavior.

Perhaps he ought to ask those “law enforcers” what they do if they see someone that matches a suspect’s description.

It probably doesn’t include checking to see if they are a famous rapper first.

Police confirmed Jean’s detention to NBC News, explaining that he, and his vehicle, matched the description of an armed robbery suspect.

“The suspect was described as an armed black male wearing a gray- or dark-colored hoodie with a red bandana, and was seen fleeing in a gold or tan Toyota sedan,” the LAPD said in a statement.

But it didn’t take long for his fans to scream racism.

Yes don’t consider the fact that he and his car matched the suspect’s description.
