Gaming show host quits after backlash from ‘Womens’ Day’ JOKE; vows it won’t be the last of him

The co-founder and host of a gaming show resigned after outrage over a joke he made pertaining to the “A Day Without A Woman” protest that some labeled sexist.

“Ah. Peace and quiet,” said Colin Moriarty, the co-founder and now former co-host of gaming show Kinda Funny, last Wednesday, as reported by Polygon.

Several high-profile gaming industry figures scolded Moriarty for his tweet. Among the complainers were Justin Davis, Brian Altano, and Blaine Gibson, who are gaming outlet IGN’s executive editor, a host/producer for IGN, and a writer/director for mega gaming YouTuber RoosterTeeth, respectively.

Moriarty’s former colleague, Greg Miller, posted a note in which he said that he and Moriarty spoke about the joke “at length” and that Moriarty would not be attending the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) East gaming festival.

Yesterday, Moriarty announced his resignation from Kinda Funny on Facebook.

“This morning, the guys and I had a constructive conversation, and feel that, with our separate visions for the future and for the direction of the company, it’s time to go our separate ways,” said Moriarty. “I want to be clear that this was my decision…I simply want to reconnect with what’s most important to me. Politics, history, philosophy. Reading books. Talking about things I feel are most impactful and essential for a person like me.”

“Obviously, you haven’t seen or heard the last of me,” mentioned Moriarty, alluding to a new initiative. “Far from it.”

Moriarty holds conservative and libertarian views and has previously spoken on outlets that have been critical of the progressive left, such as The Rubin Report and the Glenn Beck Radio Program.
