Alec Baldwin tested a new anti-Trump angle this weekend.
In a house cleaning measure, U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced Friday he had asked for the resignations of 46 Obama-appointed U.S. attorneys — to include celebrity New York U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara.

A defiant Bharara publicly declared he would not step down, but quickly transitioned from the person most likely to be fired to the person who had just been fired when he was canned by the Justice Department.

That’s when his liberal pals in Hollywood came to his defense, to include notorious anti-Trump moonbat Alec Baldwin.
Naturally, Baldwin would find something sinister about a decision that’s not all that uncommon, claiming “Trump is hiding something.”

What Trump may be hiding more than one might expect is his disdain for leaks to the media from recalcitrant Obama administration holdovers.
After more than an hour and half to think about it, Baldwin followed up with a witty comment about the dismissal.

Bharara had prosecuted members of the Gambino crime family, Wall Street insiders and top politicians, and was currently investigating political corruption that “touched the inner circles of the administrations of Gov. Andrew Cuomo and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio,” according to Politico.
Deadline reported on other Hollywood notables who took to social media in a show of support for Bharara, which might be expected, given the circumstances:
After the news was revealed, Billions creators Brian Koppelman and David Levien tweeted their support for Bharara. The Showtime hit series is loosely based on the activities of Bharara and his legal battles with hedge fund manager Steve Cohen of SAC Capital, with Paul Giamatti’s character, the hard-charging, whip-smart Charles “Chuck” Rhodes Jr. playing a version of the former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York.

It seems Koppelman and Levien can spot a golden opportunity to attract notoriety to their project, effectively recruiting Bharara to come on board:
