Pop star Adele won big at the Grammys on Sunday and many on social media believe they know why.
The British-born singer did everything but get on her knees and bow in front of Beyonce in her “Best Record” acceptance speech.
“I can’t possibly accept this award. And I’m very humbled and I’m very grateful and gracious. But my artist of my life is Beyoncé. And this album to me, the “Lemonade” album, is just so monumental. Beyoncé, it’s so monumental. And so well thought out, and so beautiful and soul-baring and we all got to see another side to you that you don’t always let us see. And we appreciate that. And all us artists here adore you. You are our light,” said the singer who literally broke her award in half to give it to Beyonce.

“And the way that you make me and my friends feel, the way you make my black friends feel, is empowering. And you make them stand up for themselves,” she said.
She continued her praise for Beyonce backstage.
“I thought it was her year. What the fuck does she have to do to win Album of the Year?” she said, according to Variety reporter Andrew Barker.

But despite her groveling before Beyonce, Adele was still accused of winning because of racism and white privilege on social media.
LEMONADE goes beyond the Grammys, and we all know that, and Adele knows it. Beyoncé deserves more than old white people voting her album off

Because Beyonce has never won an ward. unless you count her 24 MTV Music awards, 22 Grammys, 15 Billboard awards, 7 American music awards and many others.
So Adele’s white mediocre ass won 5/5 awards but Beyoncé only won 2/9 Grammys are garbage

Adele winning over Beyonce for album of the year is disgusting and racist dont @ me

Adele telling Beyonce how Lemonade empowered her “Black Friends” was such an entitled & unintentionally racist statement. #GRAMMYs

Many on social media put it in perspective.
I think it’s so Ignorant and racist for people to say Beyoncé didn’t win the AOTY cos she’s black? That’s so rude. Adele is a worthy winner!

Dear Beyonce fans — the Grammys are not racist. Just because Adele won doesn’t mean they hate black people. STOP IT. JUST…STOP IT.

Beyonce has won a total of 22 Grammys. Her husband Jay-Z has won 21 as well. But who cares. The Grammys are racist cause Adele won AOTY.

I am pro black as fuck but come on! Beyonce’s vocals have NOTHING on Adele! Fight racism everywhere else. https://t.co/xC0TDOsLf9

I don’t understand why people bring the racism thing on Beyoncé not winning AOTY. She still has 22 Grammys how are they racists ?

I don’t attribute Adele’s win to ‘white privilege’…
Both ’25’ and ‘Lemonade’ were great. Different types of greatness, but equally great.
