‘This guy’s a joke!’ Tucker Carlson nails Obamacare architect to the wall with one simple question

You’d think by now he’d know better, but apparently Massachusetts Institute of Technology Professor Jonathan Gruber is a real glutton for punishment.

A couple of months after being destroyed by Maria Bartiromo, the Obamacare architect who once thanked the “stupidity of the American voter” for the passage of the disastrous Obamacare law ventured onto Tucker Carlson Tonight for another butt whipping Wednesday night.

In response to Carlson stating the fact that 20 percent of people on the insurance exchanges have only one coverage option and that 60 percent want it either repealed entirely or in part, Gruber insisted that there has been “a lot of misinformation” and that some cost increases have actually been slower than they were rising before Obamacare’s passage. Or something.

Essentially, according to Gruber, “Americans just don’t understand what this law has done for them.”

“Everyone agrees that ObamaCare has increased insurance coverage in America, but if you ask Americans what Obamacare has done to insurance coverage, almost as many claim it’s declined as has gone up. I think that’s a prime example of the misinformation that has been spread. I just don’t think people understand what the law has done for them,” he said.

When asked about the people the law has hurt, Gruber said, “This law was never supposed to help everybody, Tucker. That wasn’t the design. The law was actually explicitly designed first in Massachusetts and then for the nation to leave the vast majority of Americans alone.”

Gruber said the belief was that people who had health insurance would eventually benefit in the “long-term” by lowering cost. The law was designed to “fix what was wrong in our system.”

Instead, Gruber accused Carlson and others of focusing on the “small amount” of people upset by the law.

When asked who have been hurt, Gruber answered, “wealthiest Americans and healthy individuals who benefited by a discriminatory insurance environment.”

To which Tucker responded, “I find it striking that you vilify the people you say have been hurt.” But what about the “decent person, doing their best?”

And then the question that Gruber really couldn’t answer:

“Why should I be forced to buy a plan that offers things that don’t pertain to me in any way?” referring to things like breastfeeding, prenatal care, and the like that people are being forced to buy under the current system.

Gruber called focusing on these services a “trivial distraction” and something that could be discussed without “vilifying” what he calls “the major accomplishments of the law.”

But Tucker was having none of it. Living in Washington DC, he told Gruber he’s personally seen lobbyists who have gotten rich off these “trivial distractions.”

As with any law that would have been passed, the “healthcare system had winners and losers,” Gruber said.

Unfortunately, the losers have been the majority of the American people.

And thankfully, it’s all about to end!
