Media spews catastrophic inauguration scenarios; angry Trump fans say CNN’s is downright dangerous

With reports of Washington D.C. being turned into “a virtual fortress” ahead of Friday’s presidential inauguration, it appears that the media was busy speculating on any number of catastrophic events that could occur.

And whether its speculation or wishful thinking, such doomsday conjecture would have been unheard of in the run up to President Barack Obama’s first swearing-in.

How bad is it? The Washington Examiner highlighted a segment Thursday on NBC’s “Today” show about drone bombing at Friday’s ceremony — the show said the Secret Service put in place anti-drone measures out of concerns a “flying IED” will smash into the crowd.

But don’t forget to enjoy the day!

But CNN, which has a contentious relationship with Trump, took the cake with a report on who would become president if Trump and his immediate successors were killed were killed  “just as the transfer of power is underway.”

In a response sure to leave the hate-filled left thrilled, CNN informs viewers that as a security caution, a “designated presidential successor,” chosen from a member of the cabinet, will not attend the inauguration.

“But it won’t be a Trump cabinet secretary, since none of them have been confirmed yet….it will be an Obama appointee,” the network reported.

There’s no word on who that individual is… which is probably a good thing.

Nonetheless, as Reuters reported, there will be plenty of security on hand to prevent the aforementioned catastrophes from occurring.

…and plenty of potential mayhem.

More from Reuters:

About 28,000 security personnel, miles (kilometers) of fencing, roadblocks, street barricades and dump trucks laden with sand will be part of the security cordon around 3 square miles (almost 8 square km) of central Washington.

About 30 groups that organizers claim will draw about 270,000 protesters or Trump backers have received permits for rallies or marches before, during and after the swearing-in. More protests are expected without permits.

Meanwhile, CNN’s bizarre report was not lost on Trump supporters and many claim the speculation — especially at this time — is more than dangerous.
