Thank you for playing! Mitt Romney confirms he’s out as Sec of State . . . in a very ‘Trump-like’ way

Thank you for playing, Mitt Romney!

That’s what President-elect Donald Trump apparently told his former nemesis after booting him from consideration as Secretary of State.

Rumors circulated on Twitter that Trump had called Romney to tell him he’s not being picked for the high-profile Cabinet post.

The failed presidential candidate must have learned something from the experience, as he confirmed the media scuttlebutt in a Facebook post, writing:

It was an honor to have been considered for Secretary of State of our great country. My discussions with President-elect Trump have been both enjoyable and enlightening. I have very high hopes that the new administration will lead the nation to greater strength, prosperity and peace.

Not surprisingly, the reactions on social media have come fast and furious.

Many Trump loyalists never forgave Romney for trying to derail a Trump victory and repeatedly slamming him as a “phony, a fraud and a con man.”

Trump announced on Twitter that he has chosen ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson as Secretary of State.

In a bizarre twist, former Trump adviser Roger Stone claimed Trump had punked Romney and never seriously considered him for a Cabinet post.

Roger Stone says Trump was ‘pretending’ to consider Mitt Romney ‘to torture him’
