Laura Ingraham: ‘Tillerson pick is frankly pretty genius’

President-elect Donald Trump‘s choice for secretary of state checks off all the right boxes for Laura Ingraham.

“I think the Tillerson pick is frankly pretty genius,” the Fox News contributor said Tuesday on “Fox and Friends,” discussing Trump’s pick of ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson.

“He’s someone who is not ideological which frankly, right now in our foreign policy, I think is really important,” she explained.

“We have a lot of pragmatic decision to make in our foreign policy,” Ingraham continued. “both with the way that we deal with the Middle East, with China, and with Russia. The idea that these career politicians, some of them are really upset that Rex Tillerson hasn’t been a career diplomat. I think to myself, we’ve had a lot of career diplomats, and some of them have made catastrophic decisions and given advice that has frankly proven to be quite calamitous for the United States.”

Ingraham added that Tillerson, 64, has nothing to prove, having run a major oil corporation, and is familiar with almost every major country the U.S. will be dealing with diplomatically.

She blasted those criticizing Tillerson’s dealings with Russia, pointing out the left’s hypocrisy in not calling out President Obama for his negotiations with Iran.

“Knowing what we know about the Islamic Republic (of Iran), the largest state sponsor of terrorism, we’ve decided to trust them with this flawed Iran deal, ” Ingraham argued,  “and now Tillerson is the problem?

Ingraham concluded that Trump has had “excellent judgement” on his cabinet picks which have been “pretty impressive so far.”

Many viewers agreed with Ingraham’s thoughts and voiced their opinions on Twitter.
