Trump responds to Rudy Giuliani withdrawing from secretary of state position

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani announced that he took his name out of consideration for the secretary of state position in the incoming Trump administration.

On Saturday Trump used Twitter to make a statement on it.

The tweet followed Trump’s statement on Friday where he praised his old friend.

“Rudy would have been an outstanding member of the Cabinet in several roles, but I fully respect and understand his reasons for remaining in the private sector,” he wrote.

Social media reacted quickly, as they usually do when Trump tweets.

Some were afraid the announcement meant a Romney pick was imminent.
