Monica Lewinsky was almost asking for the backlash when she weighed in on Time’s ‘Person of the Year’

Trying to outdo Newt Gingrich for the “strangest” comment of the day Wednesday, Monica Lewinsky offered an interesting choice other than Donald Trump for Time’s “Person of the Year.”

Her selection being strange in that it seems Lewinsky was backing Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election.

“If Time Magazine had asked my opinion about their Person of the Year (and they didn’t), I would have told them: The Trolls,” the infamous former White House intern said in a Vanity Fair op-ed published on Wednesday.

“It’s been quite a year for the bullying gremlins,” Lewinsky wrote.

“And then, of course, there were the gremlins of the 2016 U.S. presidential election,” she added later. “The political trolls and bots overpopulated the Internet, feeding on negativity, disseminating disinformation, and becoming more vitriolic as November 8 approached.”

It was at this point that she appeared to tip her hand on who she was backing.

‘The effects, from which we are still reeling, have changed our country profoundly,” Lewinsky said.

The reaction on social media proves Lewinsky will never live down “the incident” that propelled her into celebrityhood, and for that same reason, will forevermore bear the brunt of crude jokes.
