Colleagues erupt in applause when karma bites newly minted Democrat Charlie Crist

Charlie Crist just got served a heaping plate of karma as new members of Congress chose their offices for the upcoming legislative session.

The former Republican, who is now going to serve in Congress as a Democrat representing Florida, drew the worst number in the lottery system that determines who gets what office on the Hill. That probably wasn’t the reaction he wanted from his colleagues as they erupted in a roar of laughter and applause.

Democrat Lou Correa of California drew the coveted number one ticket and got first pick of offices.

Crist, an attorney who was Florida’s Republican governor from 2007 to 2011, lost a bid for the Senate in 2010 to Marco Rubio in the primary. He then switched parties, and lost in the general election running as an independent.

Not ready to hang up his hat, Crist switched parties once again, becoming a Democrat. But his run for Florida governor was not a success and he lost to Rick Scott in 2014.

Twitter users found Crist’s dose of karma quite entertaining.
