See the bird that turned world-famous the minute Donald Trump became president-elect

Turkey is not the only bird in the spotlight this Thanksgiving.

A bird in a Chinese zoo has garnered international attention for its resemblance to the next president of the United States.

Patrons at the Hangzhou zoo became enamored with a golden pheasant whose golden coiffe reminded them of President-elect Donald Trump, and the bird subsequently went viral on social media.

Since its picture began making the rounds on the Internet following Trump’s election zookeepers said tourists have been looking for the bird whenever they visit.

Mr Gao, who is the bird’s keeper, told the Daily Mail he was surprised to hear of all the attention the bird, named Little Red, was getting but that he did notice the resemblance.

“I had not noticed the likeness in the past because I had not paid particular attention to the pheasant’s hairstyle,” he said. But after Trump was elected President of America, I start seeing more pictures of him and I think the pheasant looks a little bit like him.”

Still, the park is surprised by its resident’s sudden fame.

“We see the pheasant every day. We don’t think he is special in anyway, so we are very surprised to see he has become a star,” a zoo spokesman told the Mail.

But social media loved the bird, with some dubbing it the “Pheasant-elect.”
