Trump makes it official, will withdraw from TPP trade deal on first day in office

The days are numbered for America’s pact with the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

President-elect Donald Trump, in a video outlining his first 100 days in office, said one of his “day one” executive actions will be to withdraw from the Asian trade deal.

The trade deal, negotiated by President Obama, is “a potential disaster for our country,” Trump said.

“Instead we will negotiate fair, bilateral trade deals that bring jobs and industry back on to American shores.”

The President-elect’s announcement makes good on campaign promises to cancel U.S. involvement with the TPP, a large trade pact involving 12 nations.
