Big money efforts to radicalize students failed during the 2016 election

While President-elect Donald Trump’s national victory has taken the public’s attention, the failed progressive battle for down-ballot races in places like Colorado get scant attention.

Heidi Ganahl, the founder of Camp Bow Wow, defeated a stealthy, well-funded environmental machine aimed to take over the University of Colorado (CU) Board of Regents on Nov. 8.

Tom Steyer and George Soros — using Bill McKibben’s activism at 350.org and misleadingly soft-sounding groups like New Era — are employing the ballot box to press college trustees, elected or appointed, to act as political operatives and divest from coal, oil and gas.

These out-of-state donors and environmentalists largely failed after pouring over $4 million into down-ballot races in Colorado, including the race to control the statewide race for the CU Board of Regents.

The fossil fuel divestment movement, steered not by students, but paid professional activists, is really “an effort to radicalize students and stoke public support for drastic political and economic transformations,” according to a comprehensive report on the divestment movement by the National Association of Scholars.

Ganahl, featured as someone to defeat in this deceptive voter guide, narrowly beat a former Obama administration climate official and environmentalist for the regent post. Ganahl says she found that voters care less about climate change, and more about the cost of tuition, getting jobs and restoring free speech to campuses.

She believes in “feisty debate” and that colleges should focus on “teaching students how to think, not what to think.”

In this exclusive video for The Daily Caller News Foundation, Ganahl also comments on the growing unruly student-based protests and riots occurring around the result of the presidential election. While protests are acceptable in America, new evidence is coming to light of the paid professional protester network designed to delegitimize Trump’s presidency.

Some in Colorado are now calling on Steyer, the anti-fossil fuel activist and donor, and their ilk to “go home” to California.
