Kellyanne Conway tried to douse speculation about her future plans, quickly shutting down a reporter’s attempt to feed the rumor mill.
Even with the election over, it seems reporters can’t help sharing the latest rumors from sources other than the subject of speculation. Journalist Gabriel Sherman cited “sources” on the former Donald Trump campaign manager’s plans but probably should have checked with Conway herself.
Two sources say @KellyannePolls is saying privately she’s reluctant to take administration job b/c she wants to keep running her business
— Gabriel Sherman (@gabrielsherman) November 10, 2016
So @gabrielsherman how do you post “information” to the public without asking @KellyannePolls for comment first? @NBC @MSNBC #BoycottMSM
— Deplorable FlagFlyer (@Trump2Win2016) November 10, 2016
Conway, the first woman campaign manager ever to win a presidential election, had a quick response.
False. Could it be those “sources” want the WH job I’ve been offered? https://t.co/ZXJGUZm5Zz
— Kellyanne Conway (@KellyannePolls) November 10, 2016
@gabrielsherman You know, someone who was a reporter might ask her. Know any? @KellyannePolls
— Ree Fungorio (@ReeFungorio) November 10, 2016
@gabrielsherman @KellyannePolls hahaha, prob should ask kellyanne first. Journalism is dead
— Jamie Statz (@jamie_statz) November 10, 2016
Of course, Conway’s tweet about a job offer only spawned more conjecture on social media.

— Josh Kraushaar (@HotlineJosh) November 10, 2016
Sherman appeared to be explaining his tweet to Conway and earned a few more pokes from other Twitter users.
@KellyannePolls No. They said you’d consider taking a really big WH job but you’re reluctant to give up your biz
— Gabriel Sherman (@gabrielsherman) November 10, 2016
@gabrielsherman @KellyannePolls Are you mansplaining your tweet to her? Wouldn’t she have more inside knowledge of what she’s thinking?
— Hippie Cahier (@HippieCahier) November 10, 2016
@HippieCahier @gabrielsherman @KellyannePolls typical liberal trying to tell a woman what she “really means” so sad
— ?Theo the Great? (@theo1972) November 10, 2016
@gabrielsherman @KellyannePolls She just told you your “sources” were wrong. So wrap it up and move on.
