Former FBI Asst. Director on the ‘code red moment’: Original Hillary Clinton probe was ‘not a real investigation’

Likening the Clintons to an “organized crime family,” former assistant FBI director James Kallstrom told Fox New host Megyn Kelly Tuesday that the agency’s original probe into Hillary Clinton‘s email scandal wasn’t “a real investigation.”

He cited the Clinton’s alleged “pay-for-play” scheme while she was serving as secretary of State and Bill Clinton had his fingers on the pulse of the Clinton Foundation, “which gives less than six percent of its money to charity,” he said.

“The way they treated the Haitians is a classic example, where they collected all this money and very little went to Haiti–this goes on and on,” he told Kelly. “Look at WikiLeaks…look at the emails themselves–the complicity of staff.”

Thew Hill reported that Kallstrom told former New York City Republican mayoral candidate John Catsimatidis last week that “the Clintons are a crime family, basically–It’s like organized crime. The Clinton Foundation is a cesspool.”

Then he addressed the original FBI probe to Kelly.

“The [original FBI] investigation was not a real investigation–no grand jury, no subpoenas, no search warrants,” Kallstrom said. [Director James Comey] didn’t stand up to the politics of this thing.”

He added that “I think he’s done the right thing now,” however. “He had no choice. He’s between a rock and a hard place.”

Kallstrom said that the discovery of the Clinton State Department emails on the laptop computer used by longtime Clinton senior aide Huma Abedin and her estranged husband. former Rep. Anthony Weiner must have been “a code red moment” for the agency.
