Bar owner leaves note on car parked overnight. She was too drunk to drive and now she’s a patron for life

Once in a while in this world of so many negative stories people pleasantly surprise us.

One woman recently found that out when she sensibly decided not to drive home drunk after a night at a bar only to find a heartwarming note on her car the next day when she came to retrieve the vehicle.

Paula Grzelak-Schultz, of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada, was drinking at an “Original Joe’s” bar in Sherwood Park, last week and when she felt it was time to go home she decided not to drive drunk and instead took a taxi home, Fox Insider reports.

But the next day, when Grzelak-Schultz returned to her car outside the bar, she saw a piece of paper fluttering underneath her wiper blades. Fearing she got a ticket, Grzelak-Schultz was surprised when it wasn’t a citation, but was a thank you note, instead.

As it happens, the management of the bar left the note thanking her for not driving home drunk!

“I’m not sure if you had consumed alcohol at our restaurant or not,” the note read. “But we wanted to thank you for not drinking and driving. Enclosed is a voucher for 1lb of our delicious chicken wings. Please accept this as a thank you for being responsible. Life is valuable, have a great weekend.”

Grzelak-Schultz posted the note to her Facebook page and it wasn’t long before her post went viral.

The story didn’t just go viral on Facebook, either. The bar posted to its own Facebook page a recent TV news broadcast about the story.

For her part, Grzelak-Schultz decided that night that she had became an “Original Joe’s” customer for life, “Not just because of the voucher, but because of how well this guy treats his patrons.”
