The NRA is taking advantage of Kim Kardashian West’s recent assault in Paris by using it to mock the city’s strict gun control laws.
France has relatively strict gun laws. Owning a pistol requires membership in a shooting club and the completion of a lengthy permit process; certain high-capacity guns are banned entirely. Furthermore, publicly carrying a weapon on one’s person, whether concealed or openly, is almost entirely illegal, unless a person receives a special permit based on being in exceptional danger of an attempt on one’s life.
Somehow, the NRA notes, these laws didn’t protect Kardashian from being tied up and robbed by a group of armed criminals who broke into her apartment.
“Wait, criminals held @KimKardashian at gunpoint in Paris?” the NRA’s Twitter page posted Monday afternoon. “How is that possible?”

The NRA expressed mock surprise that violent criminals in Paris did not take pains to avoid violating the city’s gun laws.

It also used Paris’s gun laws to provide a sarcastic retort to another Twitter user who said the U.S. needs stronger gun laws.

Last August, the NRA News radio program “Cam and Co.” blasted Kardashian as a hypocrite for promoting gun control laws while employing armed security to protect her.
