Another mall shooting; 9 injured in Houston and suspect is dead

At least nine people have been injured, and the suspect shot and killed, in a shooting at a Houston mall on Monday.

The shooting occurred at a strip mall in Southwest Houston on the corner of Bissonnet Street and Weslayan Street, according to KTRK.

“As I was driving by Law Street I suddenly heard a big explosion,” Eduardo Andrade, 42, told The Houston Chronicle “I covered myself, accelerated and tried to get out of there. I did not know if someone was following me or trying to shoot me.”

“I felt the hot air,” he said.

nathan-desai-linkedinThe scene is still considered active and he bomb squad is searching a vehicle believed to be that of the suspect, who has been reported to be an attorney named Nathan Desai, the Houston Police Department said.

Authorities said at a Monday press conference that Desai was unhappy with his job and had “issues concerning (his) firm (Kenneth McDaniel at McDaniel & Desai LLP.)”

They added that a cache of weapons were found in his vehicle.
